EDT 23 – Paul Skulas and Cameron Talley

edt23camerontalleySteve and Rick have been out on the town and have plenty of news to share, including the details of the much-anticipated Rabbit Hole Distillery in NuLu, what it means that Harvest is stopping its lunch service, and how the Eagle in the Highlands expects to hire 100+ restaurant workers. We’re also anticipating this week’s soft opening of the restaurant side of the Red Hog in Clifton, and we both marveled at the view from the Brown Hotel’s new rooftop garden.

Paul Skulas is one of our favorite types of restaurateurs — a smart operator with plenty of experience who has an idea that will enrich the ‘Ville’s local dining scene. He’s starting The Portage in Jeffersonville, and Steve chats with him about the details of opening the new spot across the Ohio.

Cameron Talley is just a few months into his new job as Master Distiller at the new Rabbit Hole, but he represent a new breed of individual creating great new products in brown spirits. He talks to Rick about his expectations as Rabbit Hole begins construction on its new and impressive facility between Market and Jefferson streets in NuLu.

Everybody’s favorite is our Favorites segment. This time Steve got himself invited to a special cocktail pairing event at La Chasse, and raves about the roasted butternut squash salad AND a special concoction from the bar called Sage Advice. For Rick, a lunch trip to Drake’s in St. Matthews meant sampling the specials — an Angry Goblin Burger and the Drake’s Woodford Exacta, so special he had to have two.
